The Spartan way of life...

Just last weekend me, marc, Kw and his bro went to the cinema to watch the movie 300 the story about legendary King leonidas and his 300 brave spartans last stand against the invasion of the massive persian army. The movie was intriguing and awe inspiring. It was really strange to see their barbaric child military upbringing only to find that they hold honor, virtue and pride above all the rest. So i decided to look into wiki and read more on their culture and way of life.

As i continued reading a small paragraph and quote caught my attention, it is stated below:

A strong emphasis was placed on honour and carrying out acts because it was the 'right thing to do.' Xenophon wrote about the Spartans as he observed them during an Olympic game:

"An elderly man was trying to find a place to sit and observe the Olympic Games, as he went to each section. All the other Greeks laughed as he tried to make his way through. Some ignored him. Upon entering the Spartan section all the Spartans stood and offered the elderly man their seats. Suddenly the entire stadium applauded. All the Greeks knew what was the right thing to do, but the Spartans were the only ones who did it."

So for those who have not watched the movie! its highly recommended watch it in the cinema its worth it. This is Sparta!!!!!
